Spain has expanded the list of occasions when people are required to wear mouth masks against the transmission of the Coronavirus. The number of new infections is also increasing rapidly in Spain.
As of today, people in Spain are required to wear a mouth mask in all public places, indoors and outdoors. The Spanish government announced on Tuesday that this duty applies even if one can only go five feet.
Although the strict rules leave room for interpretation, the Spanish media insist that it strictly means wearing a face mask even when sunbathing on the beach or by the pool. Exceptions are still possible for health reasons, such as food, drink, outdoor sports, and swimming.
Many regions already have a strict commitment to mouth masks, including attractions such as the island of Majorca. The number of new infections in Spain rose by about a third in a week. However, the current level of 80 new infections per 100,000 population is still relatively low compared to other European countries.
