If you want to hide your phone number for any reason, you can. We explain how to contact an anonymous identity.
Sometimes it comes in handy when you call someone, without that person knowing who he or she is on the line. For example, if you suspect that someone is ignoring your phone calls or on purpose, but also if you work from home and don’t want all business contacts to get their hands on your personal mobile number. Anonymous calling is the answer to that.
Structured or temporary anonymous calls
There are now several ways to set up the anonymous connection. Do you want to make anonymous calls for longer? Then it is wise to set that in your phone. This can be done with some actions. Do you want to make a phone call and call anonymously only at that moment? This is also possible. Service providers offer speed codes where your number is not displayed. Useful for these business contacts!
Set up an anonymous connection on Android
Do you want to make anonymous skeleton calls from your Android phone? Then you can follow the step-by-step plan below. Do you want to be recognized again later on your contact screens? Then follow the same plan step by step and choose “Show Number” in the last step.
- Open the Phone app on your Android device (the phone icon at the bottom of the screen)
- Click on the three dots at the top right to open the menu.
- Tap “Settings” in the menu.
- Scroll down and tap Additional Settings or Additional Services
- Click on View Caller ID.
- In the dropdown menu, you can choose “Hide Number” if you no longer want others to see your number.
Set up an anonymous connection on Apple
You can also disable Caller ID on the iPhone, although it’s a little faster and easier there. The job has remained somewhat on the surface. By the way, be careful with this post. Some people are quite wary of telemarketers and are unlikely to answer if your number is unrecognizable. Some of these people may have completely blocked anonymous callers!
- Go to “Settings” (gear).
- Click “Phone”.
- Find “Caller ID” and tap on it.
- Move the button that now appears to the left. Once you do that, your number will be hidden.
Make the temporary number unknown
You can also choose to make a one-time anonymous call at any time. This trick works on mobile, but also on landlines. All telecom providers have programmed #31#. Add this code before the phone number you want to call, and your number will not be shown to recipients.
Tip: Do you call your business contacts regularly and don’t want to reveal your private number? Then add this code to the number in your contact list. This way you will never have to think about it again!
