MovieTimothée Chalamet (25) follows in the footsteps of Gene Wilder (who passed away in 2016) and Johnny Depp (58). The young actor plays the third chocolatier Willy Wonka, known from the book “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” by Roald Dahl.
Gene Wilder first played the role in 1971 and in 2005 Johnny Depp got his teeth in Willy Wonka. Now it’s Timothée Chalamet’s turn to play the infamous chocolatier. The actor is starring in the new movie ‘Wonka’ which is slated for release in 2023.
Unlike the other two books, it doesn’t follow the story of Roald Dahl’s beloved book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but shows Willy Wonka starting out as a candy maker and building his own chocolate factory. More details about the plot are not yet known. We already know it’s going to be a musical, so we’ll see Chalamet sing and dance in the movie. We also now know what an actor would look like like Willy Wonka. Chalamet shared some pictures of his appearance on social media. For example, we see the well-known top hat and velvet coat that we already know from previous films. Chalamet also shared a close-up of the walking stick – adorned with a small gift – that Wonka uses.
Wonka directed by Paul King, director of the Paddington films. In addition to Chalamet, Rowan Atkinson, Sally Hawkins and Olivia Colman also play a role. The print edition will be released in theaters March 17, 2023.
