Last night, the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, was subjected to a new drone attack. This is what the local authorities say. According to them, more than twenty Russian drones were neutralized by Ukrainian air defenses. One person was injured by falling debris.
The military administration said on the Telegram application: “The drones were launched en masse towards the capital, coming from different directions.” He added, “The air defenses were able to destroy more than twenty enemy drones.”
Several media outlets reported earlier in the night that several explosions had occurred in Kiev. It is not clear whether some of the drones hit the target.
Serhiy Popko, head of the military administration in Kiev, said the debris fell in the Svyatoshinsky, Podilsky and Shevchenkivsky districts. This caused a fire in several places, including a park and an apartment building. There is one wounded, but his injuries are not life-threatening.
In turn, Russia announced, on Sunday morning, that it had repelled a Ukrainian attack on the Crimean Peninsula on the Black Sea. The Russian Defense Ministry, for example, said that eight drones flying towards Crimea were shot down. It also claims to have destroyed three military boats.
Crimea belongs to Ukraine under international law, but Russia annexed the region in 2014. Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began more than a year and a half ago, Kiev has always said it wants to liberate all occupied territories, including the peninsula.
