Vote now for the New Scientist Science Talent 2023

Who is this year’s greatest science talent in the Netherlands and Flanders? From today, cast your vote for one of the 15 candidates and help decide who can name themselves the New Scientist Science Talent 2023.

vote through newscientist.nl/talent And help determine which scientist will be crowned with scientific talent in 2023.

As of today, you can vote for 15 candidates for the title of Greatest Scientific Talent in the Netherlands and Flanders. Candidates come from all corners of science: from researching the impact of space travel on bacteria to mapping the embryonic development of humans.

The election aims to give young scientists’ research a stage. said Jim Jansen, editor-in-chief of the magazinenew world. Whether it’s new insights into climate, artificial intelligence, a quantum computer, or cultured meat; Research into this is essential.

We are looking for young researchers to take a fresh look at this complex issue. But where is the new Marie Curie and does someone in the Netherlands or Belgium have visions of Ben Feringa’s genius? In the past, we have discovered great talents thanks to this election and that is why I am happy that we are organizing it again,” says Jansen.

Public verdict and verdict by jury

Universities and institutes of knowledge have put forward their young talents in recent months. Out of these nominees, 15 of the best talents are selected to be voted on by the public. After the round of public voting, the jury will consider the five candidates with the most votes. Followed by the number one, two and three.

This year’s jury consists of Ad IJzerman (Professor Emeritus of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Member of the KHMW Board of Directors), Marcel Levy (Chair of the NWO), Sara Balz (Professor of Electron Microscopy for Materials Science at the University of Antwerp), Zoe Geslink (Jonge Academie Vlaanderen) and Jim Jansen (Editor-in-chief of New Scientist).

Awards ceremony
