Every week the Belgian Video Games Federation (VGFB) brings us a list of the top 5 best-selling games in Belgium.
In week 36 of 2023, newcomer Starfield takes first place, a game that Bethesda Game Studios has been working on for about 7 years. In Starfield, you can follow a main sci-fi story with your own ship, but the real fun is exploring and discovering planets. Although the game is playable for Xbox Game Pass members, Starfield also continues to sell well on Xbox consoles and Steam. There are now over 6 million players who have played Starfield.
In second place comes NBA 2K24, the new basketball game that many fans have been looking forward to. This year there’s cross-play support, there’s a new The Neighborhood game, and the basketball players look more realistic than ever.
What is striking is that in number 3 there is a game that we have not seen in the top five for a long time, which is the shooting game Titanfall 2 from Respawn Entertainment. The game is temporarily available on Steam for just €2.99, which might be the reason why many people are starting to pick up this shooter en masse again.
In fourth place comes GTA V, a game that always sells well, even though it will soon be 10 years old. Most new games don’t sell as well as GTA V, which was released 10 years ago. In the past three months alone, GTA V has sold 5 million copies. In total, more than 185 million copies of GTA V have been sold.
Finally, Red Dead Redemption 2 ranked fifth as the best-selling game last week in Belgium. Once again, a game from developer Rockstar Games. This is the premise of Red Dead Redemption, which was recently ported to PS4 and Nintendo Switch.
