WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will let you send invitations in a group chat. This makes it easy to organize an activity or meeting.
The new feature can be found in beta version 2.23.21.12 of the WhatsApp application Android. A new Events button has been added to the group chat sharing menu for planning an activity. After entering the name, description, location, and link for the video call, you can add the activity to the conversation. Participants can view and accept the invitation. The feature is still under development and will likely be available in a future update.
Invite WhatsApp friends to an event
In a previous article discussion WABetaInfo is already a feature under development for scheduling video calls. However, it seems that the newfound functionality is also related to actual appointments, where you have to be somewhere at an agreed upon time, for example a bowling alley or a café. Additionally, WhatsApp is working on the option to send reminders to make sure everyone is there on time. The features only work on group chats of WhatsApp communities. Invitations and reminders are end-to-end encrypted so only people in the conversation can see them.
Participants must update the WhatsApp app to the latest version to view and accept group event invitations. The popular green chat app is still alive: WhatsApp for iPad was recently made available as a beta version and the new WhatsApp channel function became available a few years ago. According to rumors, it goes even further: the chat app is said to be internally working on the possibility of receiving chat messages from other chat apps. This may have something to do with the EU’s Digital Markets Act, which requires gatekeepers to open their systems to other participants. It appears that WhatsApp has already started working on DMA compliance by partially opening the beta to chats from other providers.
