E-bike manufacturer Cowboy is now using Google Maps for its app’s navigation functionality. The Belgian company says that the integration with the Google service “improves the driving experience.”

The update appears for all Cowboy bikes and is already downloadable for iOS. The Android version will be released in the coming weeks. In addition to navigation, Cowboy promises more “innovative features built with the Google Maps Platform” this fall.
Range and calories
When planning a route, you’ll also see an estimate of the battery percentage when you reach the entered destination. While driving, you can see the range of the e-bike in real time. The app also displays your speed based on data from the e-bike itself. After their ride, the cowboy owners see how many calories they’ve burned.

AdaptivePower function
In March, Cowboy also released a major software update that added the AdaptivePower feature to Cowboy 4 and 4ST. So e-bikes provide additional support in case of strong headwinds, excessive weight or uphill cycling.
The feature could lead to a lawsuit, as a French company accuses Cowboy of reusing its patented technology.
