In 2022, the country will spend nearly 800 billion euros on the military, an increase of 0.7 percent. According to the United States, this increase is a direct result of American support for Ukraine. The US share accounts for 39 percent of all global military spending.
East Asia In second place, mainly due to the high spending of China and Japan. However, the total investment is much less compared to the United States. In 2022, 265 billion in China will go for military purposes. Japan spent $46 billion on the military that year, an increase of 5.9 percent over the previous year.
However, the increase is mainly in Europe distinct. Ukraine alone recorded an increase of 640 percent and is now 11th in the global ranking, after last year’s 36th place. The United Kingdom spent the most European countries: 62.25 billion. It is followed by Germany and France with 50.71 billion and 48.8 billion, respectively. For comparison: according to Euromil figures, the Belgian defense budget in 2022 was 4.2 billion euros.
