The daredevil had to lower himself a few meters before the end for “safety reasons”, but continued his tightrope walk afterward. “He reached the finish line and the distance record was thus broken,” his spokeswoman Laura Zhang confirmed.

Mont Saint-Michel, a 1,300-year-old Benedictine monastery, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a popular tourist attraction in northwestern France.
