EA reveals the first details of UFC 5 and announces its release date

After announcing a few months ago, Electronic Arts has now revealed the first details and release date of UFC 5. The latest installment in the UFC series will only launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and will be released on October 27.

Powered by the Frostbite engine for the first time, this new installment also introduces what developer EA Vancouver calls a “true impact system.” This new feature, which simulates the damage and degradation of fighters in real time, should make combat more realistic. According to EA, each fighter can face over 64,000 possible combinations of facial damage, affecting their performance. Therefore injuries also play a bigger role, as referees can stop the fight for a medical examination or even stop it if the injuries appear too serious.

Ground combat is also said to have been improved with smooth transitions between different grabs and chokes, eliminating the annoying mini-games of the past. UFC 5 also offers updated live service features such as Fight Week and Fight Picks, tied to real UFC events.
