British Prime Minister Boris Johnson wants to meet once again with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky before handing over the torch to the UK’s new prime minister. British media writes.

Johnson has visited Ukraine twice since the Russian invasion and is known for maintaining good relations with President Zelensky. But Johnson recently announced he was stepping down as prime minister, and the election of his successor has been ongoing for some time. Zelensky said he was “saddened” by Johnson’s resignation. “We have no doubt that British support will continue, but your personal leadership and your charisma have given this support a special character,” the Ukrainian president said in a press release.

According to insiders at 10 Downing Street, Johnson wants to meet with Zelensky again before resigning. “He really feels the responsibility because he was the biggest ally. He can’t walk away and make sure the world is behind him (Zelensky, ed.). He hopes to see him again before resigning his post,” it seems.

Johnson’s cabinet would not officially comment on “hypothetical visits to Ukraine.”
