China demands cancellation of UN meeting on Uyghurs

According to Chinese diplomats at the UN, the video conference scheduled for Wednesday was “based on pure lies and political leanings.” “Beijing is pressing for the cancellation of this event, which is falsely interfering in domestic affairs, and is inviting other members of the UN to boycott the event,” Chinese diplomats said.

Human rights groups say at least 1 million Uyghurs and other, mainly Muslims and minorities are being held in concentration camps in the Chinese province of Xinjiang. These organizations accuse the authorities of including forced labor and forced contraception of women. China denies the allegations and describes the camps as vocational training centers for the fight against religious extremism.

Stability

China says in the statement that the current situation in Xinjiang is actually better than ever. Stability, rapid economic growth and all races will “live together harmoniously”.

“The United States is concerned about the human rights of Muslims, and the killing of Muslims in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria is known worldwide,” China said in a statement. “The world and most of the Muslims killed are the United States and its followers.”

At today’s meeting, UN ambassadors from the United States, Germany and the United Kingdom, who represent Uyghurs, are also expected to visit the Human Rights Watch.
